Trip to Rajasthan- Heritage, Culture, Food and Camping in Dessert
About The place:

Jaisalmer is a city in thestate of Rajasthan located 777 kilometres west of the country capital Delhi. The town is known as "The Golden city", because it stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone looks like gold and the Jaisalmer fort looks like the crown of the city.

You may also say the Jaisalmer is the heart of the “Thar Desert” (the Great Indian Desert).

Estimated cost per Person:

This trip will cost you around 12000 to 15000 in INR. The reason behind this much cost is the there are many well-known cities on the way which you do not want to miss and also increases the length of the trip.

Cities like Jaipur-The Pink City, Ajmer, and Jodhpur-The Blue City will welcome you while your trip to Jaisalmer. These all places are well-known tourist places, one must visit. Every city has its own flavour which one must taste. So I am going to day-wise trip experience which may help you to plan your journey.


Trip Duration:

Trip Duration is 7 to 9 days at least from Delhi to Jaisalmer and back.

How to Reach:

I am a big fan of road trip and love to drive car on a long route. So we went by own car. So if you are following same and decided to drive your own car then you may follow the google route link as given below:








Recommended:

First you should go to the Jaipur and stay there for a day or two days.
Then go to the Jodhpur the next day. You may take a detour to visit Ajmer Sharif Dargah at Ajmer and stopover at Jodhpur.

Visit Jodhpur City in a day

Continue your journey to Jaisalmer and stopover in Jaisalmer and visit the city.

Go to the Sam Sand Dunes

Come back to Jaipur and stay there for a day.

And finally back to Delhi.

Jaipur: Amer fort, Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jal Mahal.

Ajmer: Ajmer Shareef Dargah

Jodhpur:  Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Moti Mahal, Sardar Samand Lake And Palace

Jaisalmer:  Jaisalmer Fort, Mandir Palace, Bada Bagh And Gadisar Lake

Sam Sand Dunes: Jeep Safari, Camel Safari, Desert Camping and Visit to Thar Desert


Should do:

Do your bookings in advance. Please book camping and hotel reservation in advance to avoid any unrest as you may waste your time in finding camping package there.

November onwards is the time to do camping in dessert.

Bring portable speakers with you to keep enjoying your evening there as there may be a slight cut in sam sand dunes.

Ask you, camp manager, to arrange bonfire well in advance.

Do camel safari early in the morning, it is a good experience.  

Do Jeep safari in the evening.

Enjoy the meal at Chokhi Dhani Jaipur, it is worth.

Go out and enjoy local food in Jodhpur, Chatpate samosas are good.

One night stopover between Delhi Jaisalmer and Back.

You may stop in Jodhpur while heading towards Jaisalmer and Stop in Jaipur while heading toward Delhi.



Should not do:

Do not go to Jaisalmer in one stretch it will be very hectic. As goes with when you are coming back.

In the camps you will not find any locker so plan in advance to keep your belongings safe.

Do not follow GPS route showing via Bikaner as it is a pain to follow that route to Delhi.

Do not drink and Drive as roads are very good there you may cross your speed limits.

Do not take your own car for Jeep Safari. You may face accident as we saw one when we were there.



Proposed Itinerary

Go to Jodhpur From Delhi and Stopover.

Go to Jaisalmer and visit the town

Then go to Sam Sand Dunes same day in the evening and Enjoy Jeep Safari.

Enjoy Camel safari in the morning the next day.

Have rest and go to Jaipur.

Stopover at Jaipur visit the city.

And again back to Delhi after 1 or 2 days.



Check List

If you are going by your car, please check all the documents are complete.

If you are going by a rented self-drive car that purchase State tax for Rajasthan.

Please carry cash as you may not find many ATMs near your camping site.

Don’t forget to bring your portable music speaker to enhance the experience.


Conclusion

Rajasthan is one of most Beautiful State to visit so take leave for 5 to 6 days and enjoy every bit of it with the family and friends.
